The Intravenous Therapy Nursing Team celebrates its first anniversary

A total of four nurses, including members of the Intravenous Therapy (IVT) Team of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Madrid, attended the XIX National Convention and III International Convention of the Spanish Oncology Nursing Society (SEEO), held in Pamplona last week. During the convention, they gave a presentation on the history of the team to coincide with its first anniversary. This work group was set up with the aim of broadening the possibilities for vascular access for oncology patients and being able to select the ideal catheter for each case.

This year the IVT team has channelled more than 100 PICC and Midline type catheters, representing an additional alternative to the other vascular accesses already available at the hospital.

The IVT team Works with a multidisciplinary focus together with the rest of the medical care staff, and the results have been excellent, with a high level of satisfaction among patients and very few complications.
