Test where the amount of certain proteins, called hormone receptors, present in cancerous tissue is measured. If the test of hormone receptors is positive, it indicates that there are hormones that may bind to these proteins helping cancer to grow. If this case, hormone therapy can be administered to prevent activity of this hormone and therefore growth of the cancer.
