Madrid, September 27, 2021.- On September 30, the 10th Update on the treatment of Acute Leukemia begins, which is organized every year by MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in the hands of Dr. Adolfo de la Fuente and Dr. Miguel Ángel Sanz , from the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital, in Valencia.

"This year we consider it special as we celebrate the tenth edition, which illustrates the achievement and relevance of the meeting within the group of professionals who are dedicated to acute leukemias", highlights De la Fuente.

Professionals who have led especially innovative studies and projects during the last year will participate in the meeting, so that the authors of the most relevant published works from Spain, other European countries and the US will attend. In addition, experts from the MD Anderson Houston Leukemia Department will speak.

"The meeting is open not only to colleagues in the healthcare field, but also to those who participate in research processes for acute leukemia in earlier stages, as well as to professionals from companies who have a very active participation in all processes development of new agents for patients with leukemia ”, explains De la Fuente.

News in the format

This year the event will be held in a hybrid format (face-to-face and online), something new since historically it was always held in person, except in 2020, which was necessarily 100% online. "The challenge that went virtual last year was worth it, as it exceeded our expectations in terms of the number of attendees, which was higher than what we normally had in person," says De la Fuente.

In the 9th edition, the number of registrants was close to 600, coming from 17 European countries, as well as the American continent, from Canada to Argentina. “The decision to do it mixed this year is because we found it very interesting to be able to maintain contact with all those professionals and colleagues who had shown a lot of interest in the previous edition, and who wish to continue participating, but due to the current situation it was going to be impossible to attend in person ”, he points out.

Meeting layout

Among the outstanding activities of the conference, it is worth mentioning the Challenge, an interactive scientific knowledge competition, with questions about the content of the different talks that are held and whose prize will be concerted courses by university experts in different areas of oncology diagnosis.
