Bone Marrow Puncture

Bone marrow aspirate. It consists of penetrating the breastbone or pelvis with a needle that passes through the bone and reaches the marrow. Puncture is painful, so local anesthesia is administered.

The bone marrow is then aspirated through a syringe. The moment of aspiration may cause discomfort or be unpleasant, but it only lasts for a few seconds and then is painless.
