Electrocardiogram


Graph of the heart's function recorded with a machine called an electrocardiograph. The procedure consists of placing six electrodes in the chest area and a metal device on each wrist and ankle connected by a wire to an electrocardiograph where the result is printed out. It is a painless and does not require fasting, nor is electrical current transmitted to the patient.
