Reservoir

Chamber placed under the skin for access to a large caliber vein as in the case the Port-A-Cath, or to reach the cerebrospinal fluid, as in the case of Ommaya reservoirs. Placement of both devices must be done in the operating room, but is a rapid procedure that usually requires local anesthesia only. Subsequently, one need only puncture the skin covering the reservoir to gain access to it.
