TUR: Transurethral Resection

It consists of introducing a device through the urethra to remove small fragments of the bladder or prostate. It is performed in the operating room and requires admission. The patient should then be monitored for blood in urine as this is usual after completing surgery. To reduce bleeding, the patient wears a special bladder catheter by which a continuous infusion of saline solution is administered to flush the bladder.
