MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid and MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston organize the 7th International Congress on Gynecologic Oncology, a reference meeting that brings the leading specialists in gynecologic oncology in the world together every two years to discuss the latest advances in this area. Coordinated by Dr. Javier de Santiago, head of the Gynecologic Oncology Service at MD Anderson Madrid; Dr. Raul Marquez, head of the Gynecological Tumors Section of the Medical Oncology Service at MD Anderson Madrid, and Dr. Pedro T. Ramirez, of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at MD Anderson in Houston, the meeting aims to be an exchange of experiences between professionals from many parts of the world, such as North America, South America, Europe or Asia.

During the meeting, which this year will be online due to the current situation, a wide variety of topics will be addressed concerning different types of gynecological tumors. In ovarian cancer, the main debate will revolve around the role that PARP inhibitors should play in treating these patients, since recent clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of these drugs, even in first-line treatments and with greater benefits than standard of treatments (chemotherapy).

Likewise, the meeting will address cervical cancer and the controversy among the scientific community about the preference for open surgery (North American vision) or minimally invasive surgery (European vision) in the approach to these patients. In addition, aspects of endometrial cancer, genomics and precision medicine will be discussed.

The meeting covers a very wide range of subjects in its program, and with the participation of the top speakers in gynecologic oncology in the world, it has already become, after only seven editions, a worldwide reference meeting in the specialty.
